Nestled on the banks of crystal clear Boshkung Lake, adjacent to Buttermilk Falls, our Haliburton Ontario cottage resort has been enjoyed by many generations of couples and families alike. Situated on a quiet bay, our sandy beach is safe and clean. Our fully-equipped efficiency cottages face south and offer a stunning big lake view. For lovers of the outdoors, the Haliburton Highlands are a dream come true. Haliburton offers a multitude of year round activities and is also renowned for its artist’s community, from potters to weavers to painters. Open year-round, our Haliburton resort's clean and modern rental cottages provide an affordable Ontario getaway where guests can relax and unwind in a peaceful and wonderfully picturesque setting. We have housekeeping cottages suitable for groups and families of up to eight, plus cabins that suit couples for romantic getaway vacations.

We are situated in Haliburton Highlands close to Haliburton village, Algonquin Park, Minden and Dorset. Buttermilk Falls Resort is the ideal venue for a girl’s getaway, group getaway or a romantic couple’s holiday. We have private cottage rentals on Kashagawigamog Lake that accommodate up to 20 people for an unforgettable Haliburton vacation. Our cottage rentals are open all four seasons. Our Boshkung Lake ice fishing is open from January to March with Lake Trout and Whitefish aplenty!
Convenient from Toronto - only a short two hour drive transports you from the hustle bustle of the city to a place where you can just gaze at the lake, hang out on the beach, relax in the hot tub or take part in a number of onsite activities. The fishing where Buttermilk Falls tumbles into the lake beside our resort is unbeatable - small mouth and large mouth bass, lake trout, white fish and pan fish. In the winter we also provide ice fishing packages with fully equipped, heated ice huts. We offer guests (free of charge) a variety of boats including row boats, canoes, kayak, paddle boat and we can also arrange power boat rentals. By the lake there is a wood fired hot tub (there are two other hot tubs also on site). Just off the beach there is a swim platform with slide and a water trampoline for hours of fun and enjoyment. Shaded from the afternoon sun we have a children's playground with slide & swings. The shuffle board court, horse shoe pits and volley ball are popular for the older children and adults.
Buttermilk Falls is located conveniently central to Minden, Haliburton and Dorset for a variety of shopping - grocery and liquor and beer stores as well as boutiques and galleries. The observation Tower in Dorset is popular family outing then on into town to visit Robinson's General Store - the most famous old fashioned general store in Ontario. Our Haliburton resort is a short drive to Minden White Water Preserve where exciting kayaking competitions take place. Sir Sam's Ski area, Algonquin Park, Leslie Frost Centre are all close and provide year round activities including cross country skiing, downhill skiing, hiking, biking, snowmobiling, atving, canoeing and fishing. In September Haliburton Highland's artisans come together to display their wares in the Studio Tour - although most of the art studios are open all year round.
Best of all is the opportunity to kick back on our beach or on the deck of your cottage and soak in the atmosphere of a special Ontario resort on Boshkung lake but also directly beside the renowned Buttermilk Falls - watch the loons and herons fishing - keep an eye on the kids fishing with nets in the shallow water by the beach for minnows or making sand castles on our shallow beach area. Our rental cottages are immaculately maintained and all come fully equipped with a full size fridge and stove, microwave, coffee maker toaster etc. TVs with VCR's are in each cottage and there is a gas BBQ on each deck. Buttermilk Falls Resort can arrange for a variety of services for you including gourmet meals delivered to your door.

Springtime in Haliburton County is filled with life. Sir Sam's Ski and Bike is close by, plus Haliburton Highlands is home to hundreds of kilometers of snowmobiling trails and cross-country ski-trails. Buttermilk Falls Resort is located at the top of Big Boshkung Lake, one of the most picturesque lakes in Algonquin Highlands. Clean and clear, this large Haliburton lake connects to a number of rivers and lakes, including Twelve Mile Lake, Mountain Lake, Horseshoe Lake, and Little Boshkung. Big Boshkung is ideal for canoeist and kayakers who enjoy exploring different lakes and don't mind a quick portage or two.

Within a twenty-minute drive you will find several Haliburton golf courses, including 9-hole par 3 and challenging 18-hole courses. The Haliburton Highlands has something for golfers of every skill level from beginner to seasoned pro, including mini-golf.
The Haliburton area also boasts the largest network of signed and mapped ATV trails in the province and you can access them directly from Buttermilk Falls Resort. The Haliburton ATV association oversees over 1,700 kilometres of scenic trails. These trails are mapped, signed, and insured for the HATVA and associate club member riders. Trail passes may be purchased from the ATV club online or from select retailers throughout the Haliburton area. Guests may bring their own ATVs or they can arrange to rent them locally.
